About » The Story

Chameleon Clogs, originally based in Charlottesville, Virginia, originated out of the designs of two enterprising young women who wanted to transform ordinary, comfortable shoe into an accessory with pizzazz. Initially experimenting with hand-painted sandals, designers Carter Schotta and Christina Teague applied their colorful creations to a very popular and comfortable style of shoe — the clog. As demand for their clogs grew, the business grew with new ideas for variations on their designs.

In 2004, Chameleon Clogs discovered Endless Possibilities and it's creator, Rabiah Hodges. Inspiration fueled the creation of the Chameleon Clogs collection, featuring hand-woven fabrics and vintage inspired embellishments that combine color and texture. Added to the collection were the animal print collection and other variations using French and jacquard ribbons, as well as Italian silks in colorful prints created by Peter-Blair, a men's clothier in Richmond, Virginia. Our latest trend is the Open toed clog with 3 styles of heel!

The result? Fashionable and comfortable footwear that is as unique as the individual wearing it. How divine! Clogs you can create the way You like!

Each pair of custom-made clogs is created and constructed by hand, with attention to top quality details and over 40 different types of leather. Traditional Swedish wooden forms provide a base with the correct anatomical support. Rabiah Hodges weaves custom combinations by hand, incorporating reclaimed, vintage and new fabrics with unique yarns and other embellishments such as buttons, coins, and flowers. French and jacquard ribbons, as well as silks from Peter-Blair, a men's clothier in Richmond, VA, are used to accentuate the standard, more conservative clog.
